All-new extended wheelbase version of the Expedition is 12 inches longer in wheelbase and almost 15 inches longer in overall length. Most of the room goes to greatly enhance the rear cargo volume. The Expedition EL model differs from the base model from the B-pillar rearwards. A 5.4L V8 provides the power and a six-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The Expedition receives a significant update for 2007. The 2007 Expedition features an all-new chassis, updated exterior and interior styling. A new front end bears the prominent grille that is becoming a Ford styling trait, but in profile, changes are more subtle. A 5.4L V8 provides the power and a six-speed automatic transmission is standard.

  • 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Limited

    2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The successful Explorer Sport Trac moves to the new re-engineered Explorer platform resulting in a signicant increase in size and the refinement of an independent rear suspension. Sport Trac is offered with both V6 and V8 engines in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations. An SVT version was planned but discontinued as part of Ford's restructuring plans.

The new model year for Ford reflects their product planning of several years ago when profitable SUVs and trucks were selling briskly. The Expedition has been restyled and re-engineered with a new extended wheelbase EL model to better compete with the Tahoe/Suburban tandem from General Motors. Although the styling changes are more evolutionary, the Expedition has been improved and arrives with a significant price cut over last year's model. The Explorer Sport Trac is all-new for 2007 moving to the new Explorer platform. The Sport Trac features many clever packaging features and offers V8 power unlike other similar vehicles. The all-new Ford Edge debuts seeking a larger piece of the much talked about crossover market in which Ford already has the Escape and the Freestyle. The sharply styled Edge features a 250 hp V6 and a six-speed automatic. With the passing of the Ford GT, the Mustang Shelby GT500 takes over as the halo car for the Ford brand. Boasting 500 hp and throwback styling cues, the Shelby GT500 could be the ultimate Mustang of all-time. The hot-selling Mustang also gains several option packages including a Shelby GT package built by Shelby Automobiles.
