The Swedish company Saab has a rich history in aviation and automobiles. Under GM control from 1989-2009, Saab products suffered as GM attempted to integrate Saab models with its other European interests. In early 2009, Saab entered a form of bankruptcy. After many rounds of negotiations, Saab was sold to Spyker Cars, a Dutch automaker. The Saab lineup will continue to be tied to General Motors for the forseeable future.
