Infiniti has improved its fortunes and image, but many have wished for more products from Nissan's upscale luxury division.
One such new product is the all-new EX35. Based on the extremely competent FM platform, shared with the G35 sports sedan-, the EX35 is a crossover that stays a little closer to the car side of the equation than its closest competitors, the BMW X3 and Acura RDX. With significantly more power and an overall height that is three inches shorter than those vehicles, the EX promises a more rewarding driving experience. Pricing that undercuts its German competition should appeal to value-oriented shoppers.
Also new for 2008 is the G37 Coupe, powered by a new 3.7L V-6. Curvaceous styling, significantly more power (330-bhp) and a substantially lower price make the G37 a legitimate threat to the BMW 3-Series coupe.
The M35/M45 luxury sedans receive updated styling in the front and rear. The big news is the inclusion of a V8-powered, all-wheel-drive M45x model. All-wheel-drive had only been available on six-cylinder models until now. M45x models start at about $52,000.
