2013 Toyota Highlander

2013 Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander was one of the first SUVs to fit the definition of a car-based crossover SUV. Introduced in 2008, the second generation grew significantly but the Highlander is still several inches shorter and narrower than other models in the segment. On the inside, the Highlander contains three rows of seats for up to 7 passengers. A unique middle row seating concept has a small bridging seat that stows in the front center console. Due to its smaller exterior, the Highlander is smaller in the third row and cargo area than its competitors. The base engine is a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine. A more powerful 270-bhp 3.5L V6 is optional on lower trim levels and standard on the top Limited model. One area that sets the Highlander apart is the optional gasoline/electric hybrid model. The Highlander Hybrid is rated at 28/28 (city/highway). The Highlander is a good value with well-equipped models starting at around $29,000.
