The Toyota RAV4 was one of the first compact SUVs on the market. Over time, it has grown considerably. The larger size allows for optional 3-row seating and optional V6 power. The base powertrain is a 179-bhp, 2.5L four-cylinder with a 4-speed automatic. With 269 horsepower, the optional 3.5l V6 has more power than anything else in the class. The availability of third row seating is unique in the segment, but the seats are only suitable for occasional usage and rob the RAV4 of utility. Toyota has all the bases covered with models; there are three trim levels, two engines, FWD, AWD, 5-passenger, and 7-passenger models. In addition, the RAV4 offers a dizzying number of packages and options. Toyota has recently started adding value packages to try and tame the complexity.
