One of Buick's most storied nameplates returned in 2011 as mid-sized, front-wheel-drive sedan. The Regal is derived from the Opel Insignia sold in other countries. Slotting between the entry-level Verano and the longer LaCrosse, the Regal is very close in size to the Ford Fusion. A high level of standard equipment on the base model includes power equipment, heated leather seats and alloy wheels. Base models are powered by a 2.4l four cylinder engine rated at 182-bhp. The Regal eAssist hybrid model adds mild hybrid operation, start/stop technology and low rolling resistance tires to further increase fuel economy. Higher performing Regals are available with turbocharged 2.0l turbocharged engines. The Regal Turbo is rated at 220-bhp and the top-performing Regal GS is rated at 270-bhp. With its German heritage and high level of standard equipment the Regal is a unique choice in a crowded mid-sized segment.
