The Monte Carlo is a unique offering. The combination of its size, FWD and clear linkage to NASCAR place it in a class by itself. Monte Carlo is offered in LS, LT, and SS trim levels. The LS and LT models feature a 210hp 3.5L V6. The performance oriented SS model is powered by a 303hp 5.3L small-block V8. Both powertrains feature a four-speed automatic. Tire sizes vary from 225/60R16 on the base model to substantial 235/50R18 tires on the SS.

The optional 3.9L V6 engine has been dropped from the lineup.
