2005 Volkswagen Jetta

2005 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan

The Jetta is Volkswagen's compact sedan. The fifth-generation Jetta has grown by 7 inches in length. Unfortunately the increase in rear seat legroom is not as great. The exterior styling is rounded and features a prominent chromed front grille and rounded headlights. A cleanly styled interior features a number of improvements in ergonomics. The base model includes a 150hp, 2.5L inline 5-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual. A six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic is optional. Other engine choices will include a turbocharged 2.0L and a 1.9L TDI. The 1.9L TDI will be offered with a DSG transmission like that found in the Audi TT.

What's New

Fifth generation grows in size and style. The larger new Jetta will feature a fully-indpendent suspension, four wheel disc brakes and a chassis that Volkswagen claims is significantly stiffer. The base engine is 2.5L 5-cylinder engine unique to North America. Both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions are offered.
