Subaru may be one of the best-kept secrets in the industry, despite a loyal customer base. Subaru has an entire line of high-quality fuel-efficient vehicles, and every model includes AWD as standard equipment.

Subaru's Forester was one of the original compact SUVs. An all-new model for 2009 features larger proportions to improve occupant comfort. The new styling is more traditional and handsome than before. Buyers can still choose between the normally aspirated 2.5L horizontally opposed 'Boxer' engine, or the surprisingly quick turbocharged variant found in 2.5XT models.

The Impreza compact sedan was all-new for 2008, but that hasn't stopped Subaru from making a host of changes to its small car. Standard rear disc brakes fix one oversight on entry-level models. A new 2.5 GT model helps bridge the gap between standard Impreza models and the quick WRX line. All WRX models feature a power boost and now include styling bits once reserved for the top-of-the-line STi model.
