Subaru introduced the AWD Impreza 2.5 TS Sport Wagon as part of its revamped Impreza lineup at the 2001 Chicago Auto Show. The new wagon offers a flat-folding front passenger seat to carry long cargo. Automatic transmission Imprezas feature Subaru's advanced Active All-Wheel Drive system that anticipates wheel slip, and transfers power automatically. The 2002 Outback Sport is a derivative of the 2.5 TS Sport Wagon. It shares the 165-bhp/166 lb.-ft. 2.5L flat-4 engine with other Imprezas. Larger alloy wheels and tires result in a 0.4" increase in ground clearance (6.3"). Other unique features include Graystone Metallic lower body cladding, foglights, and a rear bumper step pad. The Impreza Outback will be available in late March.
