New or Significantly Altered Models
The NSX returns after a 12-year hiatus. Whereas the original NSX was known for its simple and flawless execution, the modern NSX breaks new ground in cutting-edge hybrid powertrain technology. The powertrain consists of a turbocharged 3.5l V6 engine, a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission and three electric motors that collaborate to drive all four wheels. Total system output is estimated at 573-bhp.
The Cruze line now includes a 5-door hatchback model. Virtually identical to the sedan model, the hatchback replaces the trunk with a larger and more flexible cargo area. The Cruze hatch has a sportier appearance due to shorter rear overhangs.
After a long absence, a five-door Honda Civic model returns to the U.S. market. The LX, Sport, EX and Sport Touring models are powered by a 1.5l turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 174-bhp. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and CVT. The hatchback also serves for the basis of the high performance Type-R model which is offered in the U.S. market for the first time. The Type-R equips a 306-bhp four-cylinder and six-speed manual transmission.
The Hyundai Ioniq is new model line which will grow to include hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric variants. The Ioniq is five-door hatchback with dimensions that are very similar to the Toyota Prius and Hyundai's own Elantra.
Kia enters the dedicated hybrid market with the all-new Niro. Unlike others in the segment, the Niro wears styling that looks more crossover than hatchback. The powertrain combines a 1.6l four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 139-bhp.
The new C-HR is a tall hatchback that splits the difference in height between a hatchback and a crossover vehicle. A 144-bhp four-cylinder engine, CVT transmission and FWD are standard on all models.
The 4-series receives a revised suspension, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, and subtle styling updates for the 2018 model year.
2017 Mazda3 5d models have a revised front/rear bumper design, revised mirrors, and new wheels. A new center console has more storage spaces.
The Mirage wears updated front/rear bumpers, a new grille, new hood and rear spoiler. Interior changes include a new gauge cluster and updated seats.
The Versa Note has updated front and rear styling.
The Prius c wears an updated front fascia, side rocker panels and rear bumper.
New engines force an updated nomenclature for the 3-Series. Four cylinder models are now 330i (formerly 328i), whereas six-cylinder engines become 340i (formerly 335i).
Corvette Grand Sport model wears more aggressive bodywork and tires.
The Scion iM becomes a Toyota model for 2017.
1.8T models wear updated front and rear bumpers.
