All-new vehicle from Mazda features SUV styling on a car-derived platform. One powertrain is available, a 244hp, 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder. A six-speed automatic is standard. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions are offered. The interior features 2 rows of seating for 5.
Mazda adds a second all-new crossover type vehicle to their lineup. Although visually similar to the 5-passenger CX-7, the 7-passenger CX-9 rides on a different platform. FWD and AWD versions are offered. All are powered by a 3.5L V6 equipped with a six-speed automatic.
The MX-5 gains an optional power-retractable hard top (PRHT) convertible variant. The power operated top takes only 12 seconds to operate and stows with no loss to cargo capacity. Some sheet metal changes were made to accomodate the new top mechanism. Minor suspension changes were made to accomodate the extra 77 lbs of weight. Changes include firmer shocks, higher spring rates and a larger front anti-roll bar. PRHT models are distinguished by a chrome trim ring around the grille opening.
The Mazda3 is subtly refreshed for 2007. An all new performance model, the MAZDASPEED3 joins the lineup. Available only as a 5-door, the MAZDASPEED3 features a 250 hp, 2.3L 4-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual and FWD.
