The Grand Prix is all-new for 1997. Grand Prix shares it's platform with the Buick Century, the upcoming Oldsmobile Intrigue and the upcoming Buick Regal replacement. The Grand Prix is offered in coupe and sedan forms. Measurements for the two models are near identical and are larger in length and width than last years model. SE, GT and GTP trim levels are available on the sedan. The coupe is available in GT and GTP trim packages. SE models are powered by the 3.1-liter V6. GT models are powered by a 195-hp 3.8-liter V6. The GTP receives a 240hp supercharged 3.8 V6.

Trans Sport is the third in a trio of new mini-vans from GM this year. Similar to the Venture and Silhouette, the Trans Sport is available in two lengths and with either one or two rear sliding doors. The regular version Trans Sport is 187.3 inches in length. The extended wheelbase version is 201 inches in length. Trans Sport offers five different seating configurations that can hold up to eight people.
