2013 BMW X1

2015 BMW X1

The BMW X1 is the smallest crossover vehicle that BMW offers. Available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive versions, the X1 extends the appeal of the luxury crossover to a lower price point in the BMW lineup. Two powertrains are offered: a 241-bhp turbocharged four-cylinder (sDrive28i/xDrive28i) and a 300-bhp inline six-cylinder (xDrive35i). Compared to the BMW X3, the X1 is shorter by 7 inches in length, 4 inches narrower in width and 5 inches shorter in height, resulting in a vehicle that is significantly smaller than mainstream crossovers like the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4. Pricing for the X1 starts at around $31,000 and tops $40,000 with options. Like other BMW vehicles, leather upholstery is optional and adds to the sticker price.
