The Maxima gets a new 3.5L V6 and a mild restyling for 2002. Nissan added the 255-bhp/246 lb.-ft. engine (shared with the new Infiniti I35), and a 6-speed manual transmission to the Maxima SE to sharpen its performance edge. A helical limited-slip differential is optional for manual transmission equipped Maximas. The GXE and GLE models are equipped with a 4-speed automatic. Quad HID headlamps are standard. A Birdview (TM) Navigation System is available. The 2002 Maxima went on sale August 2001.
