2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-Spec

2012 Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai has a sedan to compete in just about every category. The Genesis is a large rear-wheel-drive sedan with proportions similar to the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Ford Taurus. With styling somewhat reminiscent of European luxury sedans, the Genesis also begs comparison to a couple of German luxury sedans although it's unlikely buyers of those cars would cross-shop the Hyundai. The interior is filled with luxury features and appointments like a leather wrapped dash, heated/cooled seats, and an extraordinary Lexicon 7.1 audio system. Genesis models are tied to their powertrains. The Genesis 3.8 equips a 333-bhp V6 engine and is priced from $35,000. The Genesis 4.6 is powered by a 4.6l V8 engine rated at 378-bhp and includes every available option as standard equipment for around $45,000. The performance model, the 5.0 R-Spec ups the power output to 429-bhp with a 5.0l V8 engine under the hood. All Genesis models include an eight-speed automatic transmission.

What's New

The Genesis receives updated styling, an eight speed automatic, and a new performance model. All Genesis models wear new front fascia/grille and rear fascia/exhaust tips. A new eight speed automatic transmission becomes standard on all models. Hyundai added direct injection to the 3.8l V6 improving output and fuel economy. A new 5.0 R-Spec model joins the lineup. Under the hood, a new 5.0l V8 with direct injection produces 429-bhp and 376 lb-ft of torque. The performance model also features a unique calibrations to the transmission, suspension and steering.
