2009 BMW X6

2009 BMW X6

In theory, the all-new X6 is a variant of the X5. Unlike the X5 and most other SUVs, the X6 features a roofline that tails off sharply towards the rear of the vehicle. Two rows of seats accommodate only four passengers. A hatchback provides access to the cargo space in back, but stowage room is at a premium with the rear seat in use. The X6 offers two models each with a different engine. The X6 xDrive35i includes a 300-bhp 3.0L inline-six cylinder and a 4.4L V8 rated at 400-bhp powers the X6 xDrive50i. All-wheel-drive is standard in both models. The X6 features a unique system for vectoring torque to either rear wheel to increase traction and stability under a variety of handling conditions. Like other BMWs, the X6 includes a long list of electronic driving aids. Pricing will be announced close to the vehicle's launch in the second quarter of 2008.
