Though the name is trendy, the Matrix is actually a very practical compact station wagon. Sporty styling helps dispel the notion that wagons must look utilitarian. Engine choices include a 126-bhp and 164-bhp versions of the 1.8L I-4 for 2WD Matrix models. The Matrix is also available with 4WD, but loses some power (118-bhp) compared to the 2WD models. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual (XRS), and a 4-speed automatic (standard on 4WD). Options include a JBL® 6-disc CD audio system, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and 17-inch alloy wheels.
