Suzuki has revamped the formerly stodgy Grand Vitara into a sleek, aggressively styled compact SUV. All models (2WD or 4WD) are equipped with a 185-bhp 2.7L V-6. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual or automatic. Unlike most competitive vehicles, the Grand Vitara offers a combination unibody/ladder frame, full-time 4WD, center differential lock, and a 2-speed transfer case for low speed off-road excursions. Standard ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and 6 airbags enhance safety. A 3,000 lb. towing capacity allows the Grand Vitara to accommodate larger trailers.

The Grand Vitara is a bit of rarity in the spectrum of SUVs. The 2006 model is all-new inside and out. All US Grand Vitaras are powered by a 2.7L V6 engine and offer RWD and 4WD configurations.
