2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX

The Lancer EVO has been Mitsubishi's halo car for the last few years. Dubbed IX for 2005, the Lancer EVO IX is available in standard, RS, and MR editions. The RS is aimed towards road racers and autocrossers, while the MR is the ultimate EVO. Engine upgrades include the addition of variable valve technology (VVT), which yields a slight increase in horsepower and torque. The MR model features Bilstein dampers, and an active center differential (ACD), with different modes for gravel, tarmac, and snow, for optimized handling and traction. Ventilated Brembo brakes are standard on all models. Unfortunately, active yaw control is still not available on the US-bound Lancer EVO IX. A slightly restyled front fascia has redesigned scoops for enhanced cooling. Optional air dam extensions and a higher downforce rear spoiler are available. Standard EVOs have 17" x 8" Enkei (R) alloy wheels, while the MR gets BBS (R) alloy wheels of the same size. Interior upgrades include Recaro (R) leather/Alcantara upholstered sport seats, Momo (R) steering wheel, simulated carbon-fiber trim, aluminum pedals (not available on the RS), and an optional 315-watt Mitsubishi/Infinity audio system with 7-speakers (including subwoofer).
