2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

Pontiac's extroverted Grand Prix receives its first V-8 since it converted to a FWD platform. What is more unusual is that the aluminum Vortec 5300 OHV engine is mounted in a transverse layout for this vehicle. The Vortec 5300 also has GM's DOD (Displacement On Demand) cylinder deactivation feature to enhance fuel economy up to 12%. A 4-speed automatic with TAPShift steering wheel mounted controls is the only transmission available. Suspension changes include 18-inch alloy wheels with performance tires, Bilstein® dampers, and stiffer springs that lower ride height. Aluminum interior trim and suede seat inserts distinguish the GXP from lesser Grand Prix models.
