Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts will recall the original 300SLR racer from the 1950s as the inspiration for the current SLR McLaren sports car. Powered by a 617-bhp supercharged V-8 mated to a 5-speed automatic, the SLR offers blistering performance at a breathtaking price. Few sports cars other than the Bugatti Veyron can surpass this Mercedes-Benz for its combination of historic pedigree and performance. The SLR accelerates from 0-60 MPH in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 206 MPH. An airbrake can exert up to 1.3 g of deceleration at speeds above 59 MPH. Standard 19-inch alloy wheels are shod with 255/35ZR19 tires (front) and 295/30ZR19 tires (rear). Massive carbon-fiber/ceramic brakes have 8-piston calipers (front) and 4-piston calipers (rear). A new convertible version has a carbon-fiber body for maximum torsional rigidity. Available features include a Bose audio system, Bi-Xenon headlights, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ASR (Acceleration Skid Control), electrohydraulic brakes, navigation system, carbon-fiber seats, 14 custom leather colors, and 13 exterior paint colors.
