Impala. The name conveys images of comfortable family sedans. The best that Chevrolet had to offer. Enthusiasts remember the recently departed Impala SS. Since the late 1950's the Chevrolet Impala has typified the full-size American sedan better than any other car. In 1996, the last traditional Impala disappeared as GM cancelled production of the Impala SS. For 2000, the Impala reappears as a front-wheel drive sedan based on the same platform as the Grand Prix, Regal, and Intrigue.
