The MDX enters its fourth generation for the 2022 model year. Compared to the previous model the new MDX has grown longer (2 in) and wider (1 in) with a wider track and longer wheelbase. Interior passenger volume increases to 142 cu. Ft. with more total legroom. The MDX continues to offer FWD and AWD variants, but the Hybrid model was dropped for 2022. A high-performance variant, the Type-S joins the lineup mid-year. The base 3.5l V6 is still rated at 290-hp but turbocharged 3.0l V6 in the Type-S promises 355-hp. A 10-speed automatic is standard on all models.
The e-tron GT is a new battery electric Audi model for 2022. The e-tron is a large fastback sedan with proportions like those of the A7 or A8. Power is provided by a 235-hp electric motor on the front axle paired with a 429-hp rear motor on the base GT. The combined output is 469 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The higher performance RS model fits a larger rear motor resulting in higher net performance figures or 590 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. Mechanically related to the Porsche Taycan, the Audi also employs a two-speed transmission with a taller second gear for highway driving.
The Tucson compact SUV is all-new for 2022 wearing aggressive new styling. Larger than its predecessor the US model Tucson has grown by over 3 in. in wheelbase and nearly 6 in. in overall length. On the inside, passenger volume and total legroom have increased considerably. The new base engine is a 187 horsepower 2.5l four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic. Tucson adds several new model variants including an N Line sport model, a Hybrid and a Plug-in Hybrid.
The EV6 is an all-new battery-electric vehicle from Kia. The EV6 is a crossover utility vehicle with a long wheelbase, four-doors and a hatch. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations are offered in a variety of horsepower, range and battery specifications.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is all-new for 2022. The new model is longer, wider, and taller than the model it replaced. The inside retains 3 rows of seats, but the size of the third row has been diminished in favor of the front two rows. The only available engine and transmission is a 181-hp, 2.5l four-cylinder mated to a CVT.
The updated Equinox receives a redesigned front and rear fascia with new LED headlamps. The RS trim level is new. Originally introduced as a 2021, the launch of the refreshed Equinox was pushed out to the 2022 model year.
The Stinger receives numerous updates for 2022. A new 2.5l four-cylinder rated at 300-bhp becomes the new base engine. Exterior changes include new Kia badge, wheels, LED headlamps, LED taillamps. Interior changes include a new standard 10.25-inch display and updated leather seats.
