Lincoln

The 2012 Lincoln MKS offers the ultimate in full-size luxury with a sophisticated yet dynamic design, first-class comfort and a list of impressive powertrain options including the smooth and powerful EcoBoost(TM) engine.

With its extensive list of standard features, the Lincoln MKS offers amenities such as Lincoln SYNC(R), MyKey(R) and available active park assist.

Lincoln MKS is exceptionally quiet and comfortable thanks to its craftsmanship and engineering. With its available 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, Lincoln MKS also offers a powertrain that produces a compelling combination of V8 power and the much-desired fuel economy of a V6.

"MKS EcoBoost offers a no-compromises luxury driving experience," said Megan Gillam, marketing manager, Lincoln MKS. "With standard all-wheel drive, 355 horsepower with premium fuel, 350 lb.-ft. of torque and an estimated 25 mpg on the highway, MKS EcoBoost rewards its drivers with a spirited yet efficient ride."

New for 2012

BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert is new for the 2012 Lincoln MKS as part of the Navigation and Ultimate Packages.

BLIS is a feature that can detect vehicles in a driver's blind spots during normal driving. The system can detect when another vehicle is in the defined blind spot zone. An indicator light on the corresponding sideview mirror then illuminates to alert the driver that a vehicle is in its blind spot.

Cross-traffic alert uses the same radar sensors to detect traffic approaching from the sides when backing out of parking spots. When the system detects vehicles approaching from either side up to 45 feet away, it sends an audible warning, a message center alert and a visual display in the corresponding mirror.

Fashionable new colors for the 2012 Lincoln MKS are Crystal Champagne Metallic, Cinnamon Metallic and Dark Blue Pearl Metallic.

Attention to detail

The meticulously detailed 2012 Lincoln MKS delivers a precision-crafted environment featuring premium leather trim and real wood and metal accents. Lincoln MKS drivers enjoy the peace that comes courtesy of premium noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) control.

Elegant, flowing surfaces create the feeling that the interior has been sculpted rather than constructed. The flow-through center stack is topped with an integrated information screen that also serves as the screen for the available Navigation System. Standard Bridge of Weir(TM) leather-trimmed seats are double-stitched and 100 percent unembossed, highlighting the leather's natural beauty and making each seating surface unique.

Mounts and bushings have been carefully tuned, and spring/shock tuning and front suspension geometry have both been engineered to give drivers excellent handling capabilities in a full-size luxury vehicle.

Balanced power

Customers have a choice of two powerful yet practical V6 engines. A 3.7-liter, 24-valve variation of the award-winning Duratec(R) engine family is standard. It delivers 274 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. The engine provides fuel economy of an estimated 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway for the Lincoln MKS front-wheel-drive version. The all-wheel-drive version delivers estimated fuel economy of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Lincoln MKS also offers a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V6. This engine provides 355 horsepower at 5,700 rpm while generating 350 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,500 through 5,250 rpm (premium), and returns an estimated 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with AWD.

Environmentally conscious

The philosophy of "guilt-free luxury" means Lincoln MKS strives to use materials and processes that reflect the finer things in life but not at the expense of the world around it.

The 2012 Lincoln MKS features soy-based polyurethane foam in its seat cushions and seat backs.

And the leather for the seats - by Bridge of Weir, the same company that supplied hides for the iconic Continental Mark II - is used because of its high quality, its organic, chromium-free tanning process and its recyclability.

The Lincoln comfort seats, developed for the MKS, feature side bolster supports meant for spirited driving. The standard heated and cooled 12-way power driver and front passenger seats offer four-way lumbar (up, down, inboard and outboard) for added comfort on long trips.

Rear seat passengers also enjoy a luxury experience with standard heated outboard seats.

Safety innovations

The Lincoln MKS features an advanced structural safety system that combines octagonal front frame rails, tunnel rails and support members designed to absorb and redirect crash forces away from the passenger compartment. Lincoln MKS also features SPACE (Side Protection And Cabin Enhancement) Architecture(R) to optimize side-impact occupant protection.

The SPACE system integrates a hydroformed high-strength steel tube embedded in the floor that runs the width of the vehicle from B-pillar to B-pillar and along the rocker panels to form a safety cage to help protect passengers in side-impact incidents.

Also included is the Personal Safety System(TM), combining multiple technologies to help tailor the airbags and seat belt functions to the driver and front passenger and to the circumstances of a particular accident. The system can identify variables, such as severity of a crash, weight of individual passengers and seat belt usage to adjust airbag deployment force.

Premium technologies

Lincoln MKS delivers technologies designed to make life luxurious for driver and passengers alike. Ease of use and intuitive operation were key objectives in development and implementation of the different technologies.

Consider active park assist. This available technology uses an ultrasonic-based sensing system to ease the task of parallel parking. At the touch of a button, active park assist activates. The sensing system evaluates the size of a parking spot and the edges of adjacent objects to calculate an optimized angle before steering the Lincoln MKS into a parking spot. The whole time, the system is coaching the driver through conventional throttle and braking inputs.

Lincoln SYNC is standard on Lincoln MKS. The system provides occupants with infotainment and voice-activated communications, including SYNC 911 Assist(TM), Vehicle Health Report (VHR) and SYNC Services such as Traffic, Directions and Information.

Lincoln is the only luxury carmaker in the world to offer the unique experience of specially created THX(R) in-car audio systems. For the MKS, the standard offering is a THX(R) II Certified Audio System with AM/FM/CD6/DVD/MP3 capability, 10 speakers, SiriusXM Radio with six-month prepaid subscription, an auxiliary input jack and a USB port.

The optional Navigation System includes an internal hard drive for map and point-of-interest information storage, THX II Certified 5.1 Surround Audio System and HD Radio(TM) technology.

In addition, Lincoln customers get a SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link prepaid six-month trial subscription included with the Navigation System, providing coast-to-coast weather data, forecasts, fuel prices, sports scores, movie listings and more.
