Today, Jaguar introduced the 2021 E-PACE compact SUV, which joins the growing lineup of Jaguar SUVs including the F-PACE and all-electric I-PACE. The 2021 E-PACE is more assertive, connected, and refined than ever, thanks to enhancements to its design, performance, and in-vehicle technology. Available in three trim levels - P250, P250 SE, and 300 Sport - the 2021 E-PACE builds on a winning formula that has introduced the Jaguar brand to younger and more diverse customers.

Evolution by design

Inside and out, the 2021 E-PACE is restyled to draw attention to its design details, and to highlight its connection to other members of the Jaguar family.

"The new Jaguar E-PACE features a range of design enhancements which further underline its dynamic capabilities as well as delivering a more refined and comfortable cabin," said Julian Thomson, Design Director, Jaguar. "Elements include beautiful, contemporary details and seamless integration of the latest convenience technologies across both the interior and exterior. The overall result is a more grown-up feel for the compact performance SUV."

The exterior of the E-PACE features a revised front lower aperture design with a blade element running through it for a more assertive presence. The grille is finished with a mesh design with chrome detailing - influenced by the Jaguar heritage logo - and features Noble Chrome grille tips for a heightened sense of luxury. Its sculpted hood highlights its performance credentials, and its dramatic roofline and side window lines are inspired by the striking design of the F-TYPE sports car. The optional Black Exterior Pack delivers an even more dynamic appearance, with bespoke elements finished in Narvik Black-including the grille surround and tips, lower bumper mesh inserts, side vents, window surrounds, and rear badging.

All-LED headlights give the E-PACE an even bolder appearance, day or night. The front lighting design features the signature "Double J-blade" daytime running lights. At the rear, the lower bumper features a mesh insert that sits between the integrated tailpipes. The all-LED taillights feature the Jaguar chicane graphic, showcasing the advanced technology and modernity of the overall design. Attention to detail is also evident on the side vents, which now feature the iconic Jaguar Leaper recognized the world over.

Inside, the cockpit of the 2021 E-PACE delivers heightened luxury, enhanced connectivity and greater refinement. The focal point of the interior design is the curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen integrated into the central instrument panel. Chemically strengthened, the glass screen features two coatings: one that is anti-glare and a second that makes wiping away fingerprints easier. The large touchscreen, which operates the Pivi Pro infotainment system, exemplifies the seamless integration of technology that is integral to Jaguar design DNA.

The driver-focused interior also provides easier access to the storage area behind the JaguarDrive Selector(TM) that houses the wireless device charger. The JaguarDrive Selector epitomizes the Jaguar brand approach to contemporary controls. The soft upper trim proudly features a 'cricket-ball' stitch, inspired by iconic British craftsmanship. Below, the precision-engineered metal cradle is sculpted for added tactility and an engaging quality feel. Driver touchpoints around the cluster are now wrapped in soft touch materials, while the knee side contact area is now sculpted. Optional cabin air ionization technology now features a filtration system capable of capturing ultrafine particles, including PM2.5 particulates.

The attention to detail extends to the metallic rotary dials and the steering wheel, which is influenced by the design in the all-electric I-PACE performance SUV and features hidden-until-lit switches and metal gearshift paddles. An embossed Jaguar Leaper on the headrests and 'Est.1935 Jaguar Coventry' upholstery tags bring the rich Jaguar heritage to life in a contemporary way. Additional beautiful details include Jaguar animal pattern in the central cubby and in front of the JaguarDrive Selector.

The interior can be specified in Ebony, Light Oyster, Deep Garnet, Caraway and Cloud. The range-topping 300 Sport features a collection of the latest design enhancements. The 300 Sport has 20-inch five-spoke Diamond-turned with Satin Dark Grey accent wheels, Black Exterior Pack, illuminated metal Jaguar treadplates, Ebony Suedecloth headlining and grained leather sport seats in available in Ebony, Cloud and Deep Garnet.

Designed to perform

The 2021 E-Pace receives powertrain and performance updates to complement its enhanced presence, as befits a Jaguar SUV.

"The new Jaguar E-PACE delivers an engaging and dynamic drive thanks to the latest driveline technologies and chassis settings, which ensure a controlled and comfortable ride," said Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Jaguar.

The 2021 E-PACE is offered with a choice of two, 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged Ingenium engines, each of which is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. A 246-hp engine is standard on P250 and P250 SE, and output on the 300 Sport jumps to 296 hp, thanks to mild-hybrid (MHEV) technology. The advanced powertrains feature intelligent Continuous Variable Valve Lift system that works alongside Variable Cam Timing technology to enable complete control of the engine air intake. A twin-scroll turbocharger with low friction bearings, for improved responses, is fed by an integrated exhaust manifold.

All-wheel drive is standard on all models. Second-generation "Standard Driveline" technology automatically distributes the torque between the front and rear wheels, using an electromechanically controlled clutch pack to control the torque transfer between the front and rear axles. By monitoring vehicle data up to 100 times per second, the AWD system can react to changes in conditions. Standard Driveline also features Driveline Disconnect technology, which can send power to the front axle only during steady cruising.2

Exclusive to the 300 Sport, second-generation Active Driveline AWD system delivers accomplished all-wheel traction with trademark dynamic capability. Building on the Standard Driveline setup, the Active Driveline AWD system can also distribute torque across the rear wheels, thanks to two independent, electronically controlled wet-plate clutches at the rear axle. Data from vehicle sensors enables the software to analyze the driving conditions and calculate the optimum torque distribution. Active Driveline can then distribute torque to the rear wheel with the most available traction, enabling the vehicle to respond.

Significant updates to the chassis architecture of the 2021 E-PACE deliver enhanced dynamics, comfort and convenience. The Premium Transverse Architecture features new engine mounts, which contribute to an improvement in throttle response. The architecture also provides improved front suspension attachment point stiffness, delivering a more comfortable ride while retaining trademark Jaguar agility. The structure reduces vibration and harshness across the whole cabin, while also reducing cabin noise.

Standard on 300 Sport and optional on P250 SE as part of the Dynamic Handling Pack, Adaptive Dynamics analyzes acceleration, steering, throttle and brake pedal inputs. Adaptive Dynamics then uses these inputs to continually adjust damper stiffness to enhance comfort and control. Available with Adaptive Dynamics is Configurable Dynamics, which enables the driver to set up the vehicle to suit personal preferences with a choice of Comfort or Dynamic settings applied to the throttle mapping, gear shift points, steering effort, and suspension. A stopwatch, G-Meter and pedal graph also help the driver to monitor performance in Dynamic mode.2

All E-PACE models have JaguarDrive Control featuring Comfort, Eco, Dynamic, and Adaptive Surface Response modes, which can be chosen manually by the driver based on the road conditions. The settings, selected through a toggle switch next to the JaguarDrive Selector, adapt the steering, transmission, and throttle; Adaptive Damping calibration is optional.2

An in-vehicle technology upgrade, highlighted by Pivi

The 2021 E-PACE features advanced Electronic Vehicle Architecture, dubbed EVA 2.0, which supports a range of technologies to help ensure the vehicle is connected and up to date.

The latest Pivi Pro infotainment technology is accessed through a curved glass, 11.4-inch HD touchscreen. To help enable almost instantaneous start-up, Pivi Pro has its own dedicated power source, so navigation is ready as soon as the driver is behind the wheel. Connected features include Google and Microsoft Outlook calendar integration, allowing the driver to view work calendars and even join important calls through the hands-free system. Pivi Pro is standard on P250 SE and 300 Sport; Pivi, which supports navigation functionality via smartphone using Apple CarPlay(R) or Android Auto(TM), is standard on P250.1,5

Pivi Pro connectivity is provided by the latest dual-sim technology with two LTE modems enabling the system to carry out multiple functions at the same time, such as streaming media and downloading software over-the-air (SOTA) updates, without compromising performance. The cutting-edge connectivity also ensures minimal interruptions caused by coverage blackspots as it roams across network providers for the strongest signal. Advanced SOTA connectivity enables remote downloads and software update installations.1

Complementing the central 11.4-inch touchscreen is the optional 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display with enhanced graphics and a configurable layout which can show full screen navigation mapping with turn-by-turn instructions, digital dials, media, contact list or infotainment details. The interactive driver display works in conjunction with the latest generation, full-color TFT Head-up Display which is brighter, with a larger information area and enhanced resolution.6

The 2021 E-PACE also features the optional ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror technology for the first time. The system brings improved convenience by helping to ensure the driver has an unobstructed view of the road behind. Using a wide-angle, rear-facing camera, the system feeds images to a high-definition screen within the frameless rear-view mirror. The standard 3D Surround Camera technology delivers advanced functionality using the latest camera technology to provide more detail and a choice of real-time viewing options when maneuvering the vehicle. The selection of settings includes Junction View, 3D Perspective View, and ClearSight Plan View.2

Standard Driver Condition Monitor is able to detect if the driver is beginning to feel drowsy and suggests the driver take a break. To detect signs of tiredness, inputs from thousands of data points are measured, including steering, pedal inputs and general driving behavior. Optional Adaptive Cruise Control works in concert to help maintain a set distance to the car in front, for more relaxed, and enjoyable long-distance journeys.
