Ssangyong

SsangYong is anything but a newcomer to the offroad segment. Indeed, the South Korean Group has been developing and manufacturing 4x4s with success for fifty years. And for over twenty years it has been producing engines and transmissions in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz.

But it's not just the innovative technology and high quality that's now proving very popular in Europe. Indeed SsangYong is also breaking new ground with regard to design and new models. As was the case at this year's Geneva Motor Show, where SsangYong celebrated a world premiere and presented its first pick-up, the Actyon Sports.

Product Information: SsangYong Actyon Sports

1) Dynamic body design

The sporty elegant design of the SsangYong Actyon Sports is all about aerodynamics, instantly setting apart from the design of traditional SUVs. While the headlamps have the eagle's piercing gaze, the line of the bonnet and the triangular radiator grille are inspired by shark motifs. Three horizontal chrome fins add to the dynamics and underscore the Actyon Sports assured and striking appearance.

Rigidity and strength immediately spring to mind when you look at the SsangYong Actyon's Sports body. The sturdy triple-layer ladder-type chassis provides the high-strength steel supporting structure. In the passenger cell a latticework structure with added reinforcements in both the longitudinal and transverse directions as well as in the area of the roof pillars guarantee a particularly high level of passive security.

2) Ergonomic interior design

The instrument panel is driver-oriented and ergonomically designed, with the centre console angled towards the driver. The controls are grouped by function and arranged in part in circular control panels. Chrome applications set the modern tone. Power steering with a height-adjustable steering wheel, numerous air vents and und ISOFIX fitting points at the rear make for comfort and safety.

3) Superior performance

The power-packed common-rail diesel engine with XVT charger is the SsangYong Actyon Sports's core. With its injection pressure of 1600 bar and 32 bit ECU it's in a class of its own. The electronic 3G turbo charger (XVT system) with angled blades delivers a maximum torque (310 Nm) across a broad engine-speed range (1800 to 2700 rpm).

The Actyon Sports is supplied as standard with a five-gear transmission. SsangYong is also the only manufacturer in the 4WD category to offer a four-gear automatic gearbox as an option. With its special noise and vibration-dampening the pick-up is one of the quietest in its class, not to mention the unrivalled towed weight of up to 2300 kg.

On the chassis side double wishbones are used on the front axle, guaranteeing improved driving dynamics. The rear axle boasts a five-link coil spring design. With an average consumption of 8.0 litres of diesel (8.7 l for the automatic) per 100 km it is also startlingly economical.

Like all the other vehicles from SsangYong the Actyon Sports is also equipped with a powerful 4-wheel drive. For those motoring mainly through the urban jungle, the A200 XDi 4x2 with rear-wheel drive is a cost-effective alternative.

The Actyon Sports 200 XDi 4WD models are equipped with a powerful, electrically actuated four-wheel drive that affords all the features and qualities you expect from a genuine SUV. SsangYong also offers an additional 4L off-road reduction as standard, guaranteeing optimum traction at all times in all situations, whatever the terrain.

4) Innovations for added safety

Feeling safe is a good feeling, which is why SsangYong has integrated a maximum of active and passive safety into its new Actyon Sports. So whatever the terrain and whatever the weather the driving comfort is outstanding and the stability excellent - on rough road conditions and off-road as much as when driving downhill, in sharp bends or on snow.

The Actyon Sports also sets high standards when it comes to passive safety. The ultra-strong triple-layer frame absorbs impact energy in the event of a head-on collision. The dual airbags for driver and front passenger protect in the event of a collision and the belt tensioner instantly tightens the safety belt on impact, the load limiter then releasing the safety belt in a controlled fashion, which helps to reduce the pressure on the body. The safety steering column also helps protect the driver's torso.

5) Vehicle protection and comfort

With the Actyon Sports you feel safe not just when you're on the road. Its immobiliser provides an extra theft protection system, which is complemented by additional functions such as panic alarm and a quick-lock door button operating all the doors. The interior lighting is activated by remote control, helping you to spot the Actyon Sports even in poor lit car parks.

All SsangYong Actyon Sports models feature a comfort package with for example air conditioning, partially heated windscreen and many more extras.
