Detroit in winter is where the auto show season begins. The American auto industry is roaring back, so bold sports cars such as the new Ford GT reflect confidence in the in the US market. Acura revealed the production version of the anticipated NSX, just opposite the Ford display, setting up a natural rivalry between two exotic sports cars. Alfa Romeo debuted the compact 4C Spider, and sister brand Maserati brought the Alfieri coupe concept. The sleek Avenir hints at styling themes for a new Buick flagship sedan, although no word of production plans have been announced. The Opel-based Cascada is the first Buick convertible in decades. Chevrolet had the expected second-generation Volt hybrid, along with the Bolt EV compact hatchback. Cadillac revealed the 640-bhp CTS-V sedan, along with smaller ATS-V coupe and sedan. Infiniti showed a near-production Q60 Coupe concept with distinctive styling visually separating it from the Q50 sedan. Nissan revealed the new Titan to brutal competition among full-size pickups. Toyota brought the replacement for the best-selling Tacoma pickup, along with the fuel cell Mirai EV sedan. Volkswagen showed the Cross Coupe GTE hybrid, a 4-door crossover SUV that joins a crowded market segment. The 2015 NAIAS spanned the diverse selection of vehicles from the global automotive industry. Devoted enthusiasts and environmentally-conscious attendees had plenty to see in Detroit.
