Cadillac XT5 is the brand's best-selling vehicle. It drives into 2021 with new color choices and more, building on the design, performance and technology updates introduced in 2020.
Three models are offered, with the distinctive Premium Luxury and Sport models building on the well-equipped Luxury (base) trim, as part of Cadillac's "Y" trim strategy, which tailors specific content and styling cues to different customer tastes and preferences.
An emphasis on bright trim and contemporary decor defines the Premium Luxury model, while a darker, more aggressive appearance, as well as a unique grille, differentiates the XT5 Sport. A Platinum package, offering the XT5's pinnacle of technology and interior sophistication, is available with the Premium Luxury and Sport models.
Additionally, enhanced driving dynamics provide two distinctive expressions of the Cadillac driving experience in the XT5. The Luxury and Premium Luxury models are tailored for a balance of confidence-inspiring control and uncompromising comfort, while the Sport model is designed for a more performance-oriented experience, with quick steering and more aggressive chassis tuning that provides enhanced body control without sacrificing Cadillac's signature ride isolation.
All models feature advanced LED lighting technology for the headlamps and daytime running lamps; and inside, the spacious and refined cabin complements the contemporary exterior, with a bold blend of style and comfort. It also integrates Cadillac's latest user experience system1 which delivers intuitive, smartphone-like functionality and a dynamic platform that leverages the cloud to adjust personalization, navigation2 and other features over time to meet the changing needs of the owner.
The available Platinum Package adds Semi-Aniline leather seating for all rows; leather-wrapped instrument panel, center console and door trim; sueded microfiber headliner, illuminated front door sills and premium carpeted floor mats.
Propulsion choices for the XT5 include a standard 2.0L Turbo engine, which features a twin-scroll turbocharger, three-step sliding camshaft, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and automatic stop/start to help optimize performance and efficiency in all driving conditions. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission featuring Electronic Precision Shift. It is rated at an SAE-certified 235 horsepower (175 kW)3.
A 3.6L V-6 is standard on XT5 Sport and available on Premium Luxury. It features direct injection and automatic stop/start; and it is also matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift. It is rated at an SAE-certified 310 horsepower (231 kW).
All-wheel drive is available on Luxury and Premium Luxury models, while distinguishing elements of the XT5 Sport include standard twin-clutch Sport Control AWD with Active Yaw Control, Continuous Damping Control adaptive suspension, a quicker steering ratio and 20-inch wheels.
Additionally, models with the 2.0L Turbo feature an electronically controlled braking system rather than a conventional vacuum-assisted system. With it, a compact electric motor provides power brake assistance and enhances overall efficiency by reducing the parasitic engine drag incurred with a traditional vacuum booster.
