BMW

This first generation BMW X3 became a bestseller in the BMW line, both in the United States and in Europe. Through its lifecycle, over 600,000 original X3s were sold worldwide, with 150,000 sold in the US. Meanwhile, several other players have entered the now hotly-contested segment.

The second generation BMW X3 introduced last year builds on the success of the original by developing its core competencies and adding new technology. It will re-establish the benchmarks for agility, efficiency and comfort. All BMW X3s are now produced in an expansion of BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Boasting enhanced dynamics, ride comfort, interior space and versatility, the new BMW X3 significantly extends its impact on the segment established by its forerunner. The X3 xDrive28i and X3 xDrive35i are both equipped with BMW inline-6 engines and standard eight-speed automatic transmissions. The X3 xDrive28i features BMW's 3.0-liter, 240hp inline-6 with magnesium aluminum construction and Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology, while the X3 xDrive35i is equipped with BMW's new 3.0-liter, all-aluminum, turbocharged inline-6 with 300hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Brake Energy Regeneration, BMW Assist, iPod/USB adaptor, and an anti-theft alarm system are now standard on all X3 models. Also unique in this segment are the driver assistance systems from BMW ConnectedDrive available for the new BMW X3, which include Adaptive Headlights, Head-Up Display and the rear view camera with Top View.

The second generation BMW X3 builds on the success of the original by incorporating new technologies options and packages that further the benchmarks for agility, efficiency and comfort.
