The sleek S60 is Volvo's midsize offering. A turbocharged 3.0l inline-six cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission are standard. Standard AWD ensures safe handling and traction in bad weather. Torque vectoring, part of the Corner Traction Control system, reduces understeer around curves for more balanced handling. The S60 also features an Advanced Stability Control system that monitors vehicle roll. Standard City Safety will automatically slow down the car if it approaches an object in its path and can prevent collisions if the S60 is travelling under 30 km/h (19 MPH). Volvo's optional Pedestrian Detection will warn the driver and apply maximum braking power if a person steps in front of the S60 at speeds up to 35 km/h (22 MPH).

What Changed:

Volvo updated its midsize sedan for 2011 with a design that closely resembles the 2009 concept car. The new model is about 2 inches bigger in every dimension resulting in a roomier interior. Although a Volvo offers a variety of new powertrains worldwide, the US version is only available with a turbocharged 3.0l inline six upon launch. All-wheel drive is standard on the S60 T6. Volvo has revised the suspension and steering with an emphasis on sporty handling.
