Mitsubishi

Chock-full of helpful and easy to use technology features, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is sure to appeal to a broad customer base.

All versions of this handsome compact crossover - the ES 2WD, SE 2WD and the SE 4WD - come equipped with numerous high-tech features and amenities at no additional cost to the consumer.

Among these items are luxury conveniences like remote keyless entry with panic feature (ES) or FAST-Key passive entry system with panic feature (SE), powerful halogen (ES) or Super-wide beam High-Intensity-Discharge (S-HID) headlights (SE), outstanding sound systems with connectivity via USB input jack, steering wheel-mounted cruise control, audio and telephone controls - even Mitsubishi's FUSE Hands free Link System (TM).

FAST-Key Passive Entry with One-Touch Push Button Start/Stop

With the FAST-Key entry system, the driver will never have to fumble around in their pocket or purse in search of their car keys again. By simply having the FAST-Key on their person a driver can gain entry into their vehicle by pressing the button on either of the front doors (pressing the driver's door button once will unlock only that door; pressing the button twice will unlock all four doors).

With the all-new Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi has updated the FAST-Key system. The driver can now start or stop the engine with a single push of a button located on the right side of the steering column on the instrument panel.

It is worth noting that, should the battery go dead in the keyless operation key fob (FAST-Key passive entry or the remote keyless entry system), it can be inserted into a slot in the lower glove box which enables the starting of the engine and changing of the ignition position, allowing for normal vehicle operation until the dead key fob battery can be replaced.

Sound Decisions

Audiophiles will surely be impressed with the high quality sound systems available on the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

A 140-watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with steering wheel controls and four speakers on the ES model (six speakers on the SE version), equalization control and a USB input jack that supports portable audio devices including the iPod is standard equipment on this new compact crossover. User-friendly features of the sound system include the automatic adjustment of volume and equalizer levels based on vehicle speed, along with a digital signal processor for a fuller, more precisely tuned sound.

But those really passionate about their music will surely opt for the Rockford-Fosgate(R) premium sound system, part of the Premium Package that also includes a panoramic glass roof with adjustable LED mood lighting, integrated roof rails and a free 3-month subscription to Sirius XM(R) Satellite Radio .

Jointly developed between Mitsubishi and world-renowned audio component manufacturer Rockford-Fosgate(R) - the number one car audio brand in North America - this premium sound system produces a full 710 watts of power from its eight channel amplifier. But power alone does not make an audio system sound great; smart engineering and the use of high-quality components do.

Both the front and rear doors of the Outlander Sport have been designed not only to provide five-star side impact protection but are also engineered with superior acoustic qualities by acting like frequency-enhancing speaker cabinets for the Rockford-Fosgate(R) audio system. Nine speakers (including a 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch(R) control neatly packaged out of the way in the passenger side of the rear cargo area) have been fitted throughout the cabin to provide this memorably rich sound experience.

FUSE Hands-free Link System(TM)

Another impressive audio system-related feature that comes at no cost on all Outlander Sport models is Mitsubishi's FUSE Hands-free Link System(TM).

With FUSE, you have the ability to access your Bluetooth-enabled cellular phone, iPod or USB thumb drive with nothing more than the sound of your voice.

By using simple voice-commands, you can play your favorite song by genre, artist, album or playlist. And thanks to free downloadable updates of the Gracenote(R) digital music recognition software within FUSE, the system will continue to recognize voice-commands even as you add new artists and songs to your digital music collection.

You can even make hands-free phone calls or look up points of interest on your navigation screen and let FUSE dial the phone number for you.

FUSE also supports Bluetooth 2.0, so you can make hands-free calls by Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and you can also wirelessly stream music with a Bluetooth-enabled music player.

In addition to the aforementioned voice-commands for operating the audio system, other tasks that can be performed by the FUSE hands-free link system include:

Phone

"Dial" - Make a call by saying the individual digits of a phone number

"Redial" - Redial the last outgoing call

"Phonebook" - Store up to 32 phonebook entries that can be called up and dialed by voice. The system allows for up to 1000 phonebook entries to be imported from a cell phone; these imported phonebook entries can be accessed through the navigation display.

Bluetooth streaming audio

The FUSE system recognizes the following commands (if Bluetooth audio devices support these features): "play," "stop," "rewind," "fast forward," "repeat," "scan," "random," "display music name," "artist name" and "album name."

USB input (Memory stick or iPod player)

Voice commands can be used to open a playlist, search genre, artist or album.

For the North American market, the FUSE system recognizes U.S. English, American Spanish and Canadian French.

Navigation System - Real-Time Traffic, plus 3,000 songs

Available as a stand-alone option or bundled together with a rearview camera system and an auxiliary video input jack, the 40GB HDD satellite navigation system with music server and real-time traffic can get you where you want to go quickly and efficiently and store up to 3,000 of your favorite songs.

With a large, 7-inch LCD screen and touch-panel operation, the navigation system contains large volume map data for the contiguous North America and Canada that can be quickly searched and accessed on a voluminous 40-gigabyte hard drive (map data is also available for Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands). This map data is available in three languages - English, French and Spanish.

The navigation system features an industry first Diamond Lane Guidance(TM) system that exclusively calculates the fastest route by using carpool /HOV lanes, Also included with every navigation system is a dedicated real-time traffic feature, provided by NAVTEQ Traffic with no subscription fee.

The navigation system also includes an AM/FM tuner with SIRIUS XM satellite radio compatibility, a MP3/WMA player, DVD drive (CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD video; for safety reasons, the DVD/video cannot be displayed during driving) and the music server function with a full 10GB available from the hard drive's 40GB total capacity partitioned off for music storage, which equates to about 3,000 songs.

Other information that can be displayed and detailed on the system screen include trip information (average speed and fuel consumption/distance to empty, etc.), maintenance information (engine oil, oil filter, tire rotation, etc.), air-conditioning information, outside temperature and a calendar. The screen can be operated by touch-panel operation, a multi-directional joystick with push-for-enter function located in the lower right-hand corner of the unit, and by various push-button controls set on either side of the screen ("pwr," "audio," "mode," "open," "navi," "menu," etc.).

Another plus - thanks to the plug and play design of the Mitsubishi navigation system, a consumer can take delivery of their new Outlander Sport without the navigation system and easily have it installed later on down the road at their local Mitsubishi dealership as a certified accessory.

Steering Wheel Controls - Convenience at your Fingertips

The steering wheel of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport features controls for the operation of the cruise control system and the hands-free phone as well as several key parameters for the audio and navigation systems.

The left side steering wheel spoke conveniently houses the audio controls, these include easy to manipulate buttons for lowering or increasing the volume, scroll up or down (through radio station presets, tracks on a CD, etc.) and "mode" controls (select Radio, CD, USB, etc.). When the Outlander Sport is equipped with the navigation system, these steering wheel buttons also provide control for the digital music server feature.

All of the controls for operating the car's cruise control system can be found on the right side steering wheel spoke. These include cruise control on/off, setting the desired constant speed (coast/set), increasing or resetting of the constant speed (ACC/RES), or deactivating the cruise control (cancel).

Beneath the audio controls on the steering wheel is the switchgear that controls the FUSE hands-free Link System operation.
