Overview Information

The Kia Optima is related to the outstanding Hyundai Sonata. The Optima has steadily improved with each new design and the latest Optima may be in a class by itself. The latest Optima adds distinctive styling to its good value. The Optima has dropped its V6 engines featuring an all four-cylinder lineup. A 200-bhp 2.4l four powers most models, but a 274-bhp 2.0l turbo is available in upper trim levels. A six-speed automatic is standard on all models except the base model. The Optima comes in three trim levels: LX, EX, and SX. Most buyers will probably opt for the well-equipped EX trim level which includes alloy wheels, power equipment, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery and a power drivers seat. The SX is the sport model and includes the more powerful engine, larger tires and unique upholstery.

What Changed:

Kia's mid-sized sedan is all-new for 2011. The most obvious difference is the aggressive new styling. The exterior features a lower roofline with distinctively shaped windows. A strong line runs along the side from the headlamps to the tail lamps. The Optima has grown considerably in wheelbase (2.9 in) and track (1.5 in). The new styling has reduced the height of the car by 1.0 in. Like its corporate relative the Sonata, the Optima features an all four cylinder lineup. A 200-bhp 2.4l four powers most models, but a 274-bhp 2.0l turbo is available in upper trim levels. A six-speed automatic is standard on all models except the base model.

Official Word:

As the latest model in Kia's design-led transformation, the all-new 2011 Optima midsize sedan lineup expanded today with Kia Motors America's (KMA) introduction of the all-new Optima Hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show. With a stunning design, roomy interior, and an estimated 40 mpg class-leading fuel efficiency, Kia's first-ever hybrid in the U.S. will attract those looking for a striking and well-equipped sedan that does not sacrifice style, comfort, performance or value for fuel efficiency....Read.
