An off-road capable mid-sized SUV
Overview Information
While the SUV craze largely passed Jeep by, the Grand Cherokee enjoyed its loyal following. Thus designing the 3rd generation became a daunting task. While buyers wanting more size, luxury, or seating moved on, the faithful wanted their Jeep to remain as it was. In Laredo and Limited trim levels, the Grand Cherokee offers a 210hp V6, a 305hp V8, and an optional 325hp HEMI (R) V8. A SRT8 version adds the 6.1L HEMI (R) V8 to bring the power and torque up to 420. A 5-speed automatic is the only available transmission. Three 4WD systems are offered as well as a 2WD model. Other mechanical highlights include rack-and-pinion steering and an independent front suspension.

The Jeep(R) brand unveiled today the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee that features an all-new 4.7-liter V-8 engine that delivers a 30 percent increase in horsepower, a 10 percent increase in torque and improved fuel economy compared with the engine it replaces.
