Overview Information
The BMW M3 is the benchmark high performance coupe. The latest M3 replaces the traditional inline-6 for a new 414-bhp/295 lb.-ft. 4.0L V-8, mated to 6-speed manual or a new 7-speed double-clutch gearbox. To reduce weight, the M3 Coupe has a carbon-fiber roof panel. BMW also added MDrive, which allows the driver to set the vehicle power, suspension, steering, and stability control to his preferences. Braking is via ventilated front and rear cast-iron discs: 14.2" diameter (front) and 13.8" diameter (rear). Fat 245/40R18 (front) and 265/40R18 (rear) tires are mounted 18-inch alloy wheels. Optional 19-inch alloy wheels are also available. The M3 continues to use the limited-slip M Differential Lock to ensure maximum rear traction. An extensive option list includes special paint colors, unique leather upholstery, electronic damper control (EDC), adaptive headlights, and the iDrive multimedia controller system.
