The 3-Series has long been the standard-bearer in one of the industry's most competitive segments. BMW offers an impressive combination of styling, performance, and luxury features for a German luxury sedan priced from the low thirties. Offered in RWD and AWD versions, the 3-Series model range includes multiple models with alphanumeric designations corresponding to their driveline. Most 3-Series models are powered by a inline six-cylinder engine which produces 230-bhp when normally-aspirated or 300-bhp when turbocharged. In recent years, the range expanded to include diesel (335d) and high-performance (M3) models. Like other BMW models, the 3-Series includes a healthy list of driver aids and available technology, but some common items like heated leather seats require hitting the option list. Despite the numerous improvements to the 3-Series, models like the Infiniti G35, Lexus IS, and Audi A4 offer compelling alternatives.

What Changed:

The 3-Series receives mid-cycle styling changes to the front, rear, side extensions, and mirrors. A new 50-state compliant diesel engine is available for the 2009 model year. The turbocharged 3.0L inline six produces 265-bhp. The new model is named 335d. Some models feature a wider rear track.
