As a popular hybrid icon, the Prius has no equal. With a roomy interior wrapped in a sleek, yet awkwardly styled body, the Prius quietly shouts "hybrid". Beneath the skin, Toyota's proprietary Hybrid Synergy Drive(R) integrates a 76-bhp 1.5L inline-4 with a 50 kW electric motor for seamless operation. Energy for the permanent magnet synchronous motor is stored in a 6.5 Ah NiMH battery pack. A large assortment of option packages can allow customers to tailor the Prius to their needs. Some available features include leather seats, rear camera, and a navigation system. The Prius meets SULEV and AT-PZEV emission standards, and gets up to 48 mpg in city driving, and 45 mpg highway. Note that actual customers may not approach that fantastic mileage in normal driving.
