Overview Information

Ford intends to rethink its all-star vehicle the Explorer for its next incarnation. The Explorer America shows one take on what the future may hold. The Explorer America concept features unibody construction as opposed to the body-on-frame construction of today's Explorer. The switch would result in a lighter vehicle, which would help fuel efficiency, but would also improve drivability. Smaller displacement four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines are also discussed to improve fuel efficiency.
