This low-slung sedan designed by Fisker is a plug-in hybrid scheduled for production in late 2009. Fisker estimates a base price of $80K, with a potential production volume of up to 15,000 vehicles annually. The Karma has a claimed range of 50 miles on electric power, although the cruising speed is not stated. The powertrain consists of a gasoline engine connected to a generator, which charges the lithium-ion battery pack. An electric motor drives the rear wheels. Optional solar panels on the roof can recharge the battery and cool the interior.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc.
