After suffering for a couple of years with precious little new products, the VW brand is enjoying a number of new products at the core of its brand. In 2005/2006, the Jetta, Passat, Golf and GTI were updated. In the case of the Golf, the models were renamed Rabbit evoking memories of prior generations of VW's compact hatchback.

For 2007, an all-new model dubbed EOS joins the lineup. The EOS is a compact FWD, four-passenger convertible with a retractable hardtop convertible. Priced from $30,000, the EOS slots in above the Beetle Convertible in the lineup. Both 4-cylinder and V6 engines are offered in the model range.

After sitting out the 2006 model year, the Passat Wagon rejoined the lineup mid-2006 as a 2007 model. With four-cylinder and V6, FWD and AWD powertrains the Passat wagon offers the same styling and appointments as its sedan counterpart.

Touareg, Volkswagen's luxury SUV offering will be facelifted in 2007. Minor changes to styling will accompany new powertrain offerings.

In other changes, Volkswagen's fuel-economy leading 1.9L TDI engine has been dropped from the lineup for 2007 Jetta and Beetle models. This leaves the 2.5L 5-cylinder as the sole engine for the Beetle range. A new TDI engine will debut in early in 2008 for the 2008 model year.
