The Saturn ION Sedan is the only compact sedan with dent-resistant plastic door panels. Although the ION is sleek and inoffensive on the outside, the interior center dash-mounted gauges are difficult to use when driving. If the standard 145-bhp 2.2L I-4 doesn't have enough muscle, it can be replaced with the optional 175-bhp 2.4L in the ION-3. Buyers looking for sporty styling and reasonable value may find the ION-3 a good deal, although the odd interior ergonomics may be a deal breaker.

What Changed:

Horsepower and torque ratings are up slightly in the base Ecotec 2.2L and upgraded 2.4L Ecotec.
