Pontiac regains a compact car for 2007. Pontiac offered the Sunfire for years, but the model left the lineup when the Chevy Cobalt was introduced. The high profile Solstice gains a GXP performance model featuring a turbocharged 2.0L engine. Horsepower and torque increase by nearly 100 hp and 100 lb-ft. Distinct front and rear fascias further differentiate the GXP Solstice from the base model. Pontiac's volume model the G6 continues to receive power train tweaks. This year GTP coupe and sedan models switch to a 3.6L V6 engine with variable valve timing. The engine produces over 250hp. More importantly, the GTP model gains a six-speed automatic and loses the optional manual transmission. The GTO has been discontinued. The Pontiac Montana SV6 has been discontinued leaving minivan duty to only Buick, Chevy, and Saturn.
