Unlike the 2007 Altima, the Maxima is not based on the Nissan D-platform chassis.

Nissan is revitalizing the car portion of its lineup by reworking the Sentra, Altima, and introducing an all-new entry level model named Versa. The Quest and Maxima also see significant updates. The Quest receives a more traditional instrument panel. The CVT transmission technology from the Murano finds its way in to a number of vehicles.
