Still nice, but little to distinguish it from the Altima
Overview Information
Since 1981, the Maxima has been Nissan's flagship sedan. The latest version boldly stands out with its unique styling and luxury features. Maximas have been known for their world-class engines, and the 255-bhp 3.5L V-6 does not disappoint. Available in two trim levels, the SL is luxury oriented, while the SE aims to be a sports sedan. The only available transmission is a Xtronic CVT with manual input. Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) is available as an option. Audiophiles will appreciate the available 320-watt Bose(R) CD stereo system. An optional Elite package substitutes rear bucket seats for the standard bench seating, and adds unique burnt orange/black interior trim.
What Changed:
The Maxima receives a minor facelift for 2007. Exterior changes include a tightened up front fascia, headlights, hood, and a bigger rear spoiler. An Xtronic CVT replaces the conventional automatic and unfortunately, the 6-speed manual too. The 3.5L V-6 is re-rated at 255-bhp, because of new SAE standards. Unlike the 2007 Altima, the Maxima is not based on the Nissan D-platform chassis.
