New entry level sedan pushes Sentra upscale
Overview Information
Nissan will introduce a new sub-compact car to the US market to address the sales success of Scion. The new Versa will be sold in both 5-door and sedan forms and will slot below the all-new Sentra due next year. Versa will be powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine rated at 120+ hp and 125+ lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) will be available as an option. Nissan is aiming for an MSRP starting at $12,000 when the Versa goes on sale next year.
What Changed:
The Versa is a new "B" segment offering for the US market. Offered in 4-door and 5-door models, all Versas are powered by a 122 hp 1.8L 4-cylinder. Depending on model, transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, 4-speed automatic, and a CVT.
