Upscale minivan based on the Freestar
Overview Information
The Monterey is the upscale minivan in the Mercury lineup, and is offered in only the well-equipped Luxury trim level. The standard 201-bhp 4.2L V-6 is the largest displacement engine in a minivan, and offers 263 lb.-ft. of torque. Like all domestic minivans, the Monterey is equipped with a 4-speed automatic. An available DVD entertainment system and tri-zone climate control should keep rear seat passengers occupied and comfortable. The Safety CanopyŽ airbag system protects all passengers in a collision. Properly equipped, the Monterey can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Although the Monterey is a competent choice, it is surpassed by the Chrysler and Japanese minivans.
