The midsize E-Class is the core of the Mercedes lineup. As a result there is a wide model range to cover most needs. E-Class sedans are equipped with a 208-bhp 3.2L I-6 turbodiesel (E320 BLUETEC), 268-bhp 3.5L V-6 (E350), and a 382-bhp 5.5L V-8 (E550). A 4Matic option provides AWD traction. Performance enthusiasts will prefer the E63 AMG with its 507-bhp 6.3L V-8. Transmissions include a 5-speed (E63 AMG and 4MATIC models) or 7-speed automatic. Optional "designo" packages combine interior and exterior trim in a color coordinated theme.

What Changed:

The E-class receives a mildly restyled front bumper and grille and several powertrain changes. A 382 hp E550 model replaces last years E500. A 507 hp E63 AMG replaces the E55 AMG. The E320 BLUETEC replaces the E320 CDI. The PRE-SAFE anticipatory safety system added to all E-Class models.
