GM PERFORMANCE PARTS LSX CHEVROLET SILVERADO

There's a saying in the hot rodding world: There's no replacement for displacement. The GM Performance Parts Chevy Silverado embodies this mantra, as this thoroughly modern truck has received the classic hot rod heart transplant - a larger engine. Out went the stock 5.3L V-8 and in went a GM Performance Parts (GMPP) LSX 7.4L - that's 454 cubic inches - fuel-injected crate engine that pumps out 640 horsepower. It was built to demonstrate the possibilities offered to enterprising rodders via GMPP's growing family of LSX high-performance cylinder blocks, engine components and crate engines. Also true to the classic hot rod ethic is the truck's appearance, which has a matte black exterior finish and a bare-bones bench seat inside. And to demonstrate this truck hauls in every sense of the word, strapped down in the bed is a detailed 572-inch big block GMPP crate engine.
