Subaru created the unique AWD Outback Sedan in the mid 1990's from the standard Legacy. The Outback 3.0 R Sedan is equipped with a 250-bhp 3.0L flat-6, 5-speed automatic, and increased ground clearance with heavy duty suspension components for better off-pavement capability. Even so, the Outback is better suited for traversing deep snow drifts or muddy roads, than serious off-road duty. The Outback is only available as the fully loaded L.L. Bean Edition Sedan. A GPS navigation package is the sole major option.
