Overview Information
GMC offers the Envoy XL/Envoy Denali XL as extended wheelbase (7-passenger) derivatives of the Envoy/Envoy Denali. Engine choices include a 291-bhp 4.2L I-6 or a 300-bhp 5.3L V-8 (Envoy Denali XL) coupled to a 4-speed automatic. The V-8 is equipped with Displacement on Demand for improved fuel economy. Envoy models are available with 2WD or Autotrac on-demand 4WD. Stabilitrak® stability control is standard and head curtain side airbags are available. The Envoy can tow up to 6,600 lbs. when equipped with the 5.3L V-8. Most other midsize SUVs are equipped with independent rear suspensions and 5-speed automatics, features which put the Envoy at a comparative disadvantage. GMC buyers should look at the new Yukon as a superior alternative.
